The heavy cruiser USS BREMERTON (CA 130), built during World War II, was named after the city of Bremerton won a war bond drive, earning the right to have a cruiser named for it. The submarine USS BREMERTON (SSN 698) was the second ship named after the city of Bremerton.

Thousands of Sailors served as members of both USS BREMERTON’s crews.  The USS BREMERTON Monument at Navy League Park is being built to recognize the importance of those who served on the USS BREMERTONs, the shipyard that cared for them, and the City of Bremerton who supported them.

Mission

The history of the City of Bremerton and USS BREMERTON are intertwined like flowing waters. For more than 40 years, USS BREMERTON plied the waters of the world, returning home to Bremerton on occasion to be readied for its next mission. The City of Bremerton celebrated every ship and submarine flowing through PSNS for the betterment of our community and our country.
