The mission of The Place of Horses (DBA The Whole Horse Place), in Port Orchard, WA is to rescue senior horses and match them with children and adults to teach life skills and deepen connections through horse care and education.
Our Fundraising Will Serve This Purpose:
Our horses are super senior wrinkle ranchers 25 years old and more. They are all rescues in some way, from the kill pens to owner rehoming situations where the horse had no other options except euthanasia. Some came from loving homes but the horse couldn't relocate with their family because the haul was too far and too hard for the horse. This is their last home.
The horses have one last job- helping kids and adults to love themselves. This is a good job and a great way to live for both the horses and the people who need them.
We are not a riding facility. We do ride a little, but it is not the focus. Rather, horse care, horse time, everything horse, and that is what makes the difference and is how relationships are built.
Your donation will help keep the horses semi-retired. They won't have to work every day trying to keep themselves fed and getting vet care. Right now they work 3 or 4 days a week, and they are thriving. That is just the right amount of exercise, attention and love without being overwhelmed, and overworked. They love their lives, and your donation will ensure they keep doing that!
