A registered 501(c)(3) non-profit located in beautiful Olalla, Washington! Since 2007 Pony Up has been dedicated to the rescue and rehab of horses who are in need within Kitsap County and Washington state. Along the way we have opened our game to other animals in need… pigs, chickens, donkeys, occasionally dogs and cats. We operate with donations from people who care about horses like we do! We also fundraise for our own rescue and other quality equine concerns across the state.

We rescue and rehab horses (as well as small farm animals) in need due to neglect, abuse or abandonment. We help with Animal Control and law enforcement cases, owner surrenders and sometimes share cases with other rescues. We do not focus on any particular breed, but offer help to any horse ( or pig, chicken, goose, pony, donkey.. sometimes cats or dogs who are in need due to starvation, neglect or abandonment. We seek to turn their lives around with rehabilitation which includes proper nutrition, veterinary care, and training. Animals will get what they need while they are here… that’s a promise.

We also implement, organize and manage a wide variety of fundraising events designed to benefit our rescue and the equine community in which we live. Some of these benefits are low cost castration clinics, low cost vaccine clinics, hay banks and help with euthanasia  or veterinary costs to families who could not otherwise afford it.

We believe that it is not enough to rescue horses from starvation or slaughter. In order to ensure their safety in the future, we seek to give them the training they will need to find excellent homes.... training ensures safety for the rest of their lives and works to reduce the odds that they will ever wind up in jeopardy again.  We work with students in the Pierce County Running Start Program, young adults within the Kitsap Community Resource Program and senior high school students who wish to volunteer their time.  At Pony Up Rescue for Equines they will learn hands on about horses, their proper care and management. This will also teach them about commitment, responsibility and compassion. Students work for a semester at the farm, during which time the students will also begin to examine the real issues of unwanted and neglected horses. Students are asked to help budget, plan and implement a fundraising event during the semester. The education and interest of these students will impact the future of our society and how we treat animals.

During these challenging times, help us to keep horses safe! We feel it is  important that we take the time to connect and share!  So .. lend your heart , your ears and your hands....because together we make a better place for animals in need. Help us to make a difference by giving and volunteering! Every dollar supports the animals here.

Giving Activity

Mission

Pony Up will provide rescue, rehab and rehoming services for horses in need in our community and outlying areas. Our values will include: • • All horses and livestock deserve compassionate care, respect, dignity and humane treatment. • Volunteers who help to improve and save the lives of our residents are an essential and vital component of our success • We maintain an open door policy for our donors, sponsors and providers of care to ensure trust. • Quality of life matters! We will provide education and resources so that people can be better stewards.

Needs

There is no paid staff here! We operate entirely off of donations and volunteer support! We do not get federal, state or county funding. We always need financial support from our community!

Horses are expensive animals to support and rehab horses require even more! Many intake horses will have continued veterinary and farrier needs in the first several months... such as dentals, bloodwork, special farrier care and associated meds. We go through 2-3 tons of hay per month, as well as grain and bedding.

We need hands on support for cleaning, maintenance and socialization/grooming. Horses are fed three times per day and stalls/paddocks are cleaned daily.
