Kitsap County Search Dogs is a unit of professional volunteers under the Department of Emergency Management. Our mission is to provide trained canine teams to assist the Sheriff in locating missing persons. Teams are ready to respond at all times of day in all types of weather. Dogs, with their keen sense of smell and intelligence, are a huge asset to a search effort. It takes patience, dedication and hundreds of hours to become an effective canine search team. An effective search team also relies on numerous support people to get the job done.

Mission

Kitsap County Search Dogs (KCSD) is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing specialized canines and trained personnel to local law enforcement to assist in locating lost, injured or missing persons and victims of natural or man-made disasters in Kitsap County and Washington State.

Needs

This year we are seeking funding for equipment and training needs. With our dogs, we help save lives. It's vital for Search Rescue Recovery dog teams to keep their skills at the utmost peak of capability, to do so, we must frequently train, both here at home with the team or guest trainers as well as traveling out of state for specialty training. We receive no funding for training from the County or from the State.
