Camp Beausite Northwest (CBNW) a residential camp program and retreat center for people of all ages with special needs located in Chimacum is one of only FOUR residential programs in the state of Washington that supports people with special needs. CBNW was established in 1989 and had several temporary locations around the peninsula until moving to its current location in 1994. After years of rustic camp offerings during the summer, CBNW was able to secure funding for the construction of a beautiful, winterized camp and retreat center. The project, completed in May of 2019, would allow for year-round programs and rentals of the 55-acre facility that accommodates up to 60.

Camp Beausite Northwest is working hard towards supporting the over 35,000 people in the state of Washington that need respite services and are on a wait list to get funding. CBNW believes that everyone should be able to come to camp and we have a camper scholarship fund, so that they can come and their families can have the respite that they deserve. CBNW does TWO things really well:

1) We care for people with special needs

2) We provide their families and caregivers with respite

If you do nothing else. Please watch our camp video. This is a gift of a few minutes of our time and will show you what we do and why we do it. Our programs create a world for our campers that is molded, selected, and supported just for them in a world that doesn't make room for our families. Our campers deserve the world and here they get that, if only just for a little while.

Like so many businesses and nonprofits, CBNW was hit hard by the pandemic and a state mandate that didn’t allow for many overnight camp programs to operate.  We have worked hard to get to the other side of the pandemic and are excited to have the most robust camp calendar in 2023 in the history of CBNW. With 8 weekend programs, and 8 weeks of summer camp, along with three new specialty programs. CBNW will be able to serve over 450 campers and provide respite for their more than 1500 caregivers and family members.

Camp Beausite Northwest subsidizes all programs by a minimum of 40% through grant writing, funds development, and our rental and retreat center. The cost of our staffing that is needed to care for our campers throughout the year is 50% of our budget - and that percentage doesn't include our three full time staff members salaries - that is just program and care staffing. Some of our campers have access to funds through the state in order to come to camp, but that is only 57% of our families with funding. Our 3 day programs cost $700, our 6 day programs cost $1700, and some of our specialty programs are even more. And those numbers barely scratch the surface of the needs. Every program that we build - we have campers and families that need the space and the care. A sign that the resources in our state are vastly under funded and under supported. Please help us provide camper scholarships. If we are able to raise $3400 through this campaign, we can send several campers who would not be able to come to camp to camp. While they are at camp, we are providing respite for a minimum of THREE caregivers per camper. Respite scholarships provides joy and support for a minimum of eight people. Help us. Help them.

ALL Funding raised this year will go towards funding our camper scholarships as well as our newly developed programs and caregiver staffing. We can not do this with out our community support.
