Through the generosity of donors, the American Red Cross serving the South Puget Sound and Olympics has made a profound impact in Kitsap and surrounding counties over the past year.
Through our Disaster Action Teams - volunteers who are on-call 24/7/365 - we provided immediate, critical disaster recovery assistance to nearly 1,000 of our neighbors during the last year. We are also focused on improving community preparedness and resiliency; making 200 households safer through home fire safety visits and installation of free smoke alarms, training almost 15,000 individuals in lifesaving skills such as CPR/AED and hosting over 200 area blood drives. Additionally, we provided essential services such as health and wellness activities, emergency communications and support services to 20,000 military members, veterans, and their families. These remarkable achievements were made possible by over 500 local volunteers who generously contributed 40,000 hours to benefit our community.
The American Red Cross, through its robust network of volunteers, donors, and partners, is a steadfast presence in times of need. We are committed to transforming compassion into action so that:
- All people affected by disasters here at home and across the country receive care, shelter, and hope.
- Our communities are prepared and resilient in the face of disasters.
- Everyone in our nation has access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products.
- All members of our armed services and their families find unwavering support and comfort whenever needed.
- In emergencies, trained individuals are always nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives.
Together, we are making a difference and building a stronger, more resilient Kitsap County.
The American Red Cross is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, not a government entity, and we are proud that an average of 90 cents of every dollar donated is invested in delivering care and comfort to those in need.
