The West Sound Art and Music Association (WSAMA) is incorporated as a WA State non profit corporation, and registered with the IRS as a federally recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization, established ‘to produce and present world-class art and music in novel ways that reach out to and enthuse new listeners, revitalize modern performance practice and enrich our local community through education and performance opportunities.’
West Sound Art and Music (WSAMA) has been able to support our volunteer adult organizers by providing; materials for their ukulele classes working with homeless/underprivileged youth, at local civic groups, libraries, and local community ukulele groups. We gathered local performers for community events in Bremerton, Poulsbo, Allyn and Kingston. In December ‘16 & ‘17 we sponsored an All Community Ukulele Performance/Sing-a-long of Holiday songs at the Silverdale Mall, having more than 40 people. We were also able to arrange for 35 ukuleles to be donated to students. The majority of our donations went toward our featured event the West Sound Ukulele Festival in Bremerton. We brought in world-class instructors and performers from all over the country to teach and share with the community, where we provided a wonderful learning environment for all levels of players, attracting hundreds of people. WSAMA has lived up to its mission to produce and present world class opportunities in our community through learning and playing ukulele, we hope to be able to continuing to do so with other music and arts venues and educational opportunities that are intergenerational and multicultural.
West Sound Art and Music Association - WSAMA is the producer of the ‘West Sound Ukulele Festival’ scheduled for October in Bremerton WA, with additional activities to be taking place throughout the region in the weeks/months prior to and following the Festival. The West Sound Ukulele Festival and other events depend on the generosity and support of individuals and businesses throughout our region. It is only through the support of our sponsors that the Festival can take place, for which we thank them. WSAMA is open to ideas for projects that will further the arts and diverse culture of the West Sound/Kitsap/Mason County area of WA State and points beyond.
