Kitsap Regional Library Foundation
Kitsap Regional Library Foundation supports the Library’s mission to inspire children, teens and adults alike to dream more, learn more, do more and be more. We partner with the community to support programs and services not covered by public funds, including Summer Learning, One Book One Community, and Third Graders to the Library. Kitsap Regional Library serves the community as a center for lifelong learning and a steward of access to stories, information and knowledge. We are the Library because of public finding; we are the Library you want because of donors like you.
Our Summer Learning program encourages people of all ages to continue to grow and develop their skills during the summer months through reading and learning challenges, and hundreds of classes and events. Of the many great reasons we offer our Summer Learning program, one of the most important is to support our children in being prepared for school in the fall. Studies show that children can lose up to three months of academic skill if they are not engaged in high-quality summer reading or learning opportunities. Our Summer Learning program creates hundreds of opportunities to try something you’ve never tried, explore a new topic, or expand on your own interests. In 2017, over 6,600 children, teens and adults reached their reading or learning challenge and over 16,000 people participated in a Kitsap Regional Library class or event. Alice, 5, took the Summer Learning challenge and her mom told us about the experience: "Alice worked hard all summer practicing her letters. She asked us to read to her constantly. She was able to sound out and read 3, 4, and even some 5 letter words! She is proud of herself and we are proud of her too."
Donations from the Kitsap Great Give will support Kitsap Regional Library beyond what is possible through public funding. This includes the Library’s most popular program, Summer Learning.
