Dispute Resolution Center of Kitsap County
The DRC is a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non-profit. We offer mediation, facilitation, training and Behavioral Health Ombuds services. We work with individuals, organizations, and businesses in our community to mediate disputes, improve mutual understanding, promote restorative practices, maintain relationships, and to provide tools for effective, productive communications.
Here is what some of our mediation and facilitation clients say was the BEST part of their experience with the DRC: • Being heard! • Being able to civilly speak to the other party. • Mediation helped us to talk about things we had only fought about before. • I was very impressed with the mediator’s professionalism and candor. It was the best kind of scenario. I felt Safe. The mediators were great! • Having someone help explain things to my 13 year old. It helped me understand him as well. • It worked! • Everything! Here is what some of our training attendees say was the BEST part of their experience with the DRC: • Using role playing to practice the skills we just learned about. • Understanding how the clients are being impacted by their conflict. • The exploration of the role of emotion in conflict. • Practicing the skills of re-framing and impartial language. • Walking through the negotiation/agreement process. • Being able to observe the process in action and then practicing the skills that we learned. • The coaching!
The DRC is a non-profit that provides mediation, facilitation and training services to the Kitsap and North Mason communities free or on a sliding scale. Funds we receive will support needed programs that benefit our community and help make Kitsap the area we all can enjoy living in.
