The mission of Catholic Community Services is to build better lives, stronger families and healthier communities across Western Washington. Our employees and volunteers come from many faith traditions to serve and support poor and vulnerable people through the provision of quality, integrated services and housing. We value diversity and welcome any person in need, regardless of age, race, national origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, political affiliation, or any other discriminatory reason. We actively join with others to work for justice. Catholic Community Services offers many programs and services throughout Kitsap County, including Benedict House and Volunteer Chore Services.
Benedict House in Bremerton offers emergency shelter and transitional housing for single men and men with children experiencing homelessness. Benedict House provides a safe environment that allows men to focus on rebuilding their future through enrollment in college courses, life skills and vocational skills training, and individualized case management. In 2014 Benedict House served 151 men, including 6 children. Volunteer Chore Services helps low-income elders and adults with disabilities remain independent in their own homes. Free services such as help with housework, transportation to medical appointments and shopping, minor home repairs, installation of grab bars and wheelchair ramps, yard care, and moving assistance are provided at no charge by screened, trained volunteers. In 2014, volunteers drove 59,586 miles and provided 7,105 hours in service to 221 Kitsap County residents.
Funding for Benedict House and Volunteer Chore Services will help provide much-needed relief, comfort, and brighter futures for vulnerable people throughout Kitsap County. 91 cents of every dollar spent by Catholic Community Services goes directly to those in need.
